Glittering Star Cake

Ingredients

  • 100g/4oz white ready-to-roll icing
  •   florist's wire, cut into small lengths
  •   non-edible gold colouring
  •   icing, to cover cake and board
  •   ribbon

Method

  1. Roll out 100g/4oz white ready-to-roll icing and cut out eight different-sized shapes with star cutters.
  2. Push a small length of florist's wire through the centre of each star so it doesn't show.
  3. Decorate the stars with non-edible gold colouring and leave them to harden on greaseproof paper.
  4. Cover the cake and board with icing and tie a ribbon around the cake.
  5. Paint stars on the rim of the board with gold colouring and carefully push in the cut-out stars.

Notes

Uses non-edible gold colouring and florist's wire — ensure wire is removed before eating.
