Ingredients
- 8 large old potatoes, scrubbed and dried
- 4 oz. Cheddar cheese, coarsely grated
- salt and pepper
- 4 oz. butter
Method
- Turn on oven; set at moderately hot, 400°F (Mark 6).
- Scrub potatoes well; dry thoroughly in a clean cloth. Prick with a fork. Put on a baking sheet.
- Cook in centre of preheated oven for 1 hour, or until soft.
- Meanwhile, grate cheese coarsely.
- When potatoes are cooked, make a deep cut across each; season well with salt and pepper.
- Put ½ oz. butter in each potato. Divide cheese between potatoes and sprinkle it over the butter. Serve really hot.
