Batter for Fish

Ingredients

  • 1 whole egg
  •   plain flour
  • ½ baking powder
  • nearly a whole tin lager
  •   fish, cut into smallish pieces, dipped in flour

Method

  1. Add 1 whole egg to plain flour and ½ tsp baking powder. Stir in nearly a whole tin of lager.
  2. Stir lightly - leave lumps.
  3. Test that fat is hot enough - take out tested batter bits.
  4. Cut fish into smallish pieces, dip in flour, fry about 1 minute.
  5. Separate if necessary between batches, fry for 1-2 minutes till crisp, golden and floating. Drain on kitchen paper.
