Ingredients
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
- ½ tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 500g turkey mince
- 200g can kidney beans
- 4 tbsp tomato ketchup
- salt and pepper
- 4 burger buns
- lettuce leaves
- tomato, sliced
- Greek yogurt
Method
- Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and cook the onion for 5 minutes until it is beginning to brown. Add the garlic, chilli powder, mixed herbs and cumin to the pan and fry for a further 2 minutes. Remove from heat and leave to cool completely.
- Place the turkey mince, kidney beans and ketchup in a large bowl. Stir in the cooled onion mixture and mix well, using your hands. Divide into four and shape into balls, then flatten into burgers.
- If you are grilling the burgers, preheat the grill, place them on a grill rack and cook for 15 minutes, turning halfway through. Or, barbecue until cooked through. Serve in a burger bun filled with lettuce, tomato slices and a spoonful of Greek yogurt.
Notes
If you don't have a barbecue, you can cook these burgers under a preheated grill. Serve in a burger bun filled with lettuce, tomato slices and a spoonful of Greek yogurt.
