Bangers & Mash

Ingredients

  • 6 sausages
  • 8 potatoes, good sized, peeled
  • 1 large onion, sliced into thin rings
  • 1½ cups milk
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1½ tbsp gravy granules
  • 2 oxo cubes, alternative to gravy granules
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  •   salt
  •   white pepper

Method

  1. Peel potatoes, rinse and place in a large saucepan of cold water. Boil until soft.
  2. Meanwhile, place oil into a frying pan. Slice onion into thin rings and fry gently for 1–2 minutes. Place into the saucepan with the potatoes and simmer.
  3. Place sausages in the frying pan and fry until golden brown. Remove from pan and place on a hot plate.
  4. Add milk, butter, a dash of salt and pepper to the drained potatoes and mash to a creamy mixture.
  5. Make gravy and serve with a sprig of parsley.
