Blackberry and Apple Jam

Serves Makes 1½lb/700g Cook 22 min

Ingredients

  • 1lb/450g blackberries
  • 8oz/225g cooking apples, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1½lb/700g granulated sugar
  • knob butter

Method

  1. Put blackberries, apples and lemon juice into a heatproof bowl. Cover and cook on HIGH (100%) for 4-5 minutes until the fruit has softened, stirring occasionally.
  2. Stir in sugar and cook for a further 2 minutes, stirring frequently, until sugar has dissolved. Cook for a further 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until setting point is reached.
  3. Stir in butter and cool slightly. Spoon into prepared jars. Seal and label. Store in the fridge for up to 3 months.

Notes

Store in the fridge for up to 3 months. Setting point should be tested during cooking.
