Ingredients
- 2 slices bread, buttered, sprinkled with nutmeg, cut into triangles
- alternatively 2 teacakes, buttered, sprinkled with nutmeg, cut into triangles
- a little nutmeg
- dried fruit (sultanas, raisins, chopped apricot etc.)
- ½ tin custard
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons double cream
Method
- Butter 2 slices of bread or 2 teacakes. Sprinkle with a little nutmeg then cut into triangles.
- Place in a buttered ovenproof dish and cover with dried fruit (sultanas, raisins, chopped apricot etc.).
- Mix ½ tin of custard with 1 beaten egg and 2 tablespoons of double cream. Pour over the bread and stand for 20 mins.
- Bake at Gas Mark 5 for 30 mins.
Notes
Oven 5 (Gas Mark 5) for 30 mins. Stand for 20 mins before baking.
