Bread & Butter Pudding

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread, buttered, sprinkled with nutmeg, cut into triangles
  • alternatively 2 teacakes, buttered, sprinkled with nutmeg, cut into triangles
  • a little nutmeg
  •   dried fruit (sultanas, raisins, chopped apricot etc.)
  • ½ tin custard
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons double cream

Method

  1. Butter 2 slices of bread or 2 teacakes. Sprinkle with a little nutmeg then cut into triangles.
  2. Place in a buttered ovenproof dish and cover with dried fruit (sultanas, raisins, chopped apricot etc.).
  3. Mix ½ tin of custard with 1 beaten egg and 2 tablespoons of double cream. Pour over the bread and stand for 20 mins.
  4. Bake at Gas Mark 5 for 30 mins.

Notes

Oven 5 (Gas Mark 5) for 30 mins. Stand for 20 mins before baking.
