Black Forest Gateau

Ingredients

  • 1 round chocolate cake, sliced into 3 pieces
  •   double cream, whisked
  • 1 tin cherries, tinned, syrup reserved
  •   cream
  •   chocolate, melted, then slightly cooled
  •   chocolate, grated, for topping

Method

  1. Take a round chocolate cake and slice into 3 layers.
  2. Layer with whisked double cream, soaking each slice with tinned cherry syrup, then add some cherries from the tin.
  3. Top with the next slice, then juice, cream, and the rest of the tinned cherries.
  4. Put on the top slice and press together lightly.
  5. Cover with slightly cooled icing of cream and chocolate melted together.
  6. Put a few kept-over cherries in the middle of the top, then cover the cherries with a little grated chocolate.
