Rum Sauce

Ingredients

  • 4oz/45g butter
  • 1oz/30g flour
  • ¾ pt/425ml milk
  • 1oz/30g caster sugar
  • 3 tbsp/45ml rum

Method

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the flour and cook slowly for 1 minute. Take the pan off the heat.
  2. Gradually add the milk, stirring all the time. Return to the heat and, still stirring, bring to the boil. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  3. Pour in the sugar and rum.

Serve with Christmas pudding
