Ingredients
- 100g/4oz caster sugar
- 300ml/½pt cold water
- 2 large strips orange rind
- 2 large strips lemon rind
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- 1 cinnamon stick
- fresh lemon juice, to taste
- a selection prepared fresh and canned fruits, e.g. melon balls, Cape gooseberries, kiwi, red apples, orange segments, Muscat grapes
Method
- Make a sugar syrup by dissolving 100g/4oz caster sugar in 300ml/½pt cold water with two large strips of orange rind, two large strips of lemon rind, ½ tsp ground ginger and one cinnamon stick.
- Bring to the boil, then cool, chill and strain through a fine sieve.
- Add fresh lemon juice to taste.
- Pour over a selection of prepared fresh and canned fruits, such as melon balls, Cape gooseberries, kiwi, red apples, orange segments and Muscat grapes.
