Ingredients
- 2 ozs butter or margarine
- 4 tablespoonsful vinegar
- 1 tablespoonful worcester sauce
- 2 tomatoes, skinned and sliced
- 1 level teasp. brown sugar
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 level teasp. paprika pepper
- 0.5 teasp. salt
Method
- Place all ingredients into a saucepan, simmer for 20 minutes, whisking from time to time at medium speed.
- If required for basting meat, omit cooking the sauce; just blend it for 2 minutes at medium speed and use as required.
Notes
Card also contains two additional recipes:
Butterscotch Sauce: 0.5 pint single cream, 3 oz soft brown sugar, 2 oz soft butter, 1 tsp vanilla essence, pinch of salt. Method: Place all ingredients into mixing bowl and whisk at fast speed until smooth. (If a thin sauce is required add 4 tablespoonsful of milk to the recipe).
White Sauce (coating): 1 oz plain flour, 1 oz butter or margarine, 0.5 pint milk, seasoning or flavouring to taste. White Sauce (pouring): 1 oz plain flour, 1 oz butter or margarine, 1 pint milk, seasoning or flavouring to taste. Method: Put all ingredients into a saucepan and bring to simmer, whisking at medium speed until thick and creamy. Season and flavour as required.
Note on Barbeque Sauce: If required for basting meat, omit cooking the sauce; just blend for 2 minutes at medium speed and use as required.
