Ingredients
- 6oz puff pastry
- ½oz dripping
- 1 onion, sliced thinly
- ½lb minced beef
- ½oz flour
- ¼ pint water
- salt and pepper
- Worcestershire sauce or meat extract
- carrots, chopped and boiled
- eggs, hard boiled and halved
- 1 egg, beaten, for glazing
Method
- Melt dripping in saucepan, fry onion in it for a few minutes to soften and brown.
- Mix in beef, cook quickly for 2-3 minutes.
- Sprinkle in flour, stir in water and cook gently for about 10 minutes.
- Add seasonings and Worcestershire sauce or meat extract, then add carrots. Put mixture into pie dish with the halved hard-boiled eggs.
- Cover with pastry, make a slit in it and brush with beaten egg.
- Bake at gas mark 6, electricity 400°F (200°C) for about 30 minutes until well browned. Serve hot.
