Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 8 good-quality pork sausages
- 1 small onion, peeled and cut into wedges
- 550ml bottle Newcastle Brown Ale
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 level tsp English mustard
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
- 350g/12oz baby potatoes, cut in half
Method
- Heat olive oil in a large, heavy-based saucepan and gently fry sausages for 10 mins till brown. Add onion wedges and continue to fry for 3-4 mins till soft.
- Pour in ale and then stir in Worcestershire sauce and mustard. Add thyme, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 45 mins.
- Add baby potatoes, cover and simmer for a further 45 mins, till thickened. Season generously and serve with steamed broccoli.
Notes
