Ingredients
- 4 oz plain flour, sieved
- 1 large egg
- ½ pint milk or milk and water
- pinch salt
- 1 oz dripping or lard, melted
Method
- Sieve the flour and salt together in a mixing bowl. Make a 'well' in the flour and break in the egg.
- Whisk at slow to medium speed, adding the milk gradually. Turn to fast speed and whisk until thick and creamy.
- Melt the dripping in a baking tin and when hot pour in the mixture. Bake at 475°F (Gas 8) for approximately 30 minutes.
