Roast Turkey

Method

  1. If using a frozen turkey, ensure it has thoroughly defrosted before cooking.
  2. Calculate the cooking time using the bird's stuffed weight.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4 (for a fan-assisted oven, refer to the manufacturer's handbook).
  4. Roast the turkey without foil according to its oven-ready weight: 2.25–3.5kg (5–8lb) for 1¾–2 hours; 3.5–5kg (8–11lb) for 2–2¾ hours; 5–6.75kg (11–15lb) for 2¾–3¼ hours; 6.75–9kg (15–20lb) for 3¼–3½ hours.
