Cup Cakes

Serves 12 cakes Prep 20 min Cook 20 min

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. margarine
  • 2 oz. caster sugar
  • 1 standard egg
  • 1 tablespoon black treacle
  • 2¾ oz. self-raising flour
  • 1 oz. cocoa powder
  • 1 dessertspoon cooking oil
  • 4 oz. icing sugar, sifted
  •   hundreds and thousands

Method

  1. Turn on oven; set at moderate, 375°F (Mark 5). Put 12 paper cake cases on a baking sheet.
  2. Cream margarine with caster sugar until light and fluffy. Beat the egg with the treacle and gradually add to creamed mixture, beating all the time.
  3. Sift flour and ¼ oz. cocoa into mixture and fold in, using a metal spoon. Divide between cake cases and bake in centre of preheated oven for 20 mins., or until cooked through. Cool on a wire rack.
  4. Mix ¼ oz. cocoa with 2 tablespoons hot water. Add the oil and icing sugar. Spoon over tops of cakes and decorate with hundreds and thousands.
