Ingredients
- 2 oz. margarine
- 2 oz. caster sugar
- 1 standard egg
- 1 tablespoon black treacle
- 2¾ oz. self-raising flour
- 1 oz. cocoa powder
- 1 dessertspoon cooking oil
- 4 oz. icing sugar, sifted
- hundreds and thousands
Method
- Turn on oven; set at moderate, 375°F (Mark 5). Put 12 paper cake cases on a baking sheet.
- Cream margarine with caster sugar until light and fluffy. Beat the egg with the treacle and gradually add to creamed mixture, beating all the time.
- Sift flour and ¼ oz. cocoa into mixture and fold in, using a metal spoon. Divide between cake cases and bake in centre of preheated oven for 20 mins., or until cooked through. Cool on a wire rack.
- Mix ¼ oz. cocoa with 2 tablespoons hot water. Add the oil and icing sugar. Spoon over tops of cakes and decorate with hundreds and thousands.
